Review:

Well it’s said that the course of true love never runs smoothly. Does this adage hold true for Johanne in S2 of Home for Christmas, the Norwegian show that garnered many positive reviews and an eager following for S1?

The saving grace of this show is that it does not fall into the trap of too much repetition (although there is an element of that).

That we are invested as viewers in not only Johanne’s search for the ‘man in her life’ but also in other characters’ lives and relationships. One of the major relationships is actually between Johanne and her best friend, Jørgunn. I thought this was extremely well-explored this new season.

Once again there are some truly cringe worthy moments. Yes, those moments where you would truly want the ground to swallow you up.

One aspect I enjoyed was the switching of social “norms” and expectations such as an event in the toilets of a club.

There are definitely some aspects of the story that require you to suspend your disbelief. The red roses have a lot to answer for!
